Dr. Monte
Schwartz, D.V.M.
|
 |
|
Dr.
Schwartz was born in
Denver, Colorado
where he graduated
with his D.V.M.
degree from Colorado
State University.
He was once the
veterinarian for the
stars' animals in
the Hollywood area
before moving to the
Bay Area where he
built
Boulevard Pet
Hospital
where he continues
to work.
In
addition to helping
with intake of puppy
mill dogs, Dr.
Schwartz has been
giving back to the
community for many
years. He has
offered reduced
costs for local
rescue groups,
providing them with
affordable medical
care. He
performs spays and
neuters,
vaccinations, health
exams, dental
cleanings and much
more.
A pioneer in
pediatric spays and
neuters, he was one
of the first
veterinarians in the
Silicon Valley to
offer this service
to rescue groups as
early as the 1980s.
In the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina,
Dr. Schwartz treated
eight orphaned dogs who
tested positive for
heartworm. NorCal Animal Rescue
Friends rescued,
fostered and “rehomed”
all of the dogs who
are now living
happily with their
new families.
If you peek into his
office, you will
often see a dog or
cat curled up in his
lap as he sits and
pets them, assuring
them that life is
going to be ok. A
modest man who does
not welcome fanfare,
he treasures the
licks and snuggles
of the animals he’s
helped save.
